[WATCH] Samit Dravid Hits Perfect Square Cut Like Father, Rahul Dravid

On the inaugural day of Karnataka’s tour match against Lancashire at the KSCA Stadium in Alur, Samit Dravid, the son of India’s head coach Rahul Dravid, exhibited some remarkable batting prowess. Despite facing just 45 balls, Samit managed to accumulate a respectable 25 runs, contributing to Karnataka’s total of 356.

His standout moment came with a superbly executed square cut, reminiscent of his father Rahul’s technique, off Lancashire spinner Joshua Boyden’s delivery. The shot not only impressed spectators but also drew parallels to his father’s iconic style. However, Samit’s innings was cut short when he fell victim to Jack Morley’s delivery, with Luke Wells taking a sharp catch at first slip.

The match commenced with Lancashire winning the toss and choosing to bowl first in their pre-season encounter against Karnataka. Samit entered the crease at a challenging juncture for the hosts, with the team struggling at 62/3. Despite the pressure, he began cautiously, gradually accelerating the scoring rate until Morley managed to dismiss him.

Nonetheless, the standout performer for Karnataka on Day 1 was Smaran Ravi, whose explosive innings of 111 runs off just 153 balls propelled his team past the 300-run mark. Ravi’s impressive knock was complemented by Hardik Raj’s supportive innings, where he contributed 67 runs off 74 deliveries before being dismissed. Karnataka’s innings concluded at 356 runs just as stumps were called on the first day of the match.

For those unfamiliar with the context, Lancashire’s visit to India is part of their 10-day preparatory camp ahead of the upcoming English county season. Additionally, Sussex, led by Jofra Archer, another prominent cricketing figure, is also in Bengaluru for a series of practice games. These preparatory matches serve as crucial opportunities for teams to fine-tune their skills and strategies before the commencement of the competitive season.
