Rest of India’s Sandeep Kundu registered the maiden ton of the ongoing Sardar Patel Unity Cup at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium on Sunday, October 30. Riding on his superlative knock, Rest of India posted 206/4 in their 20 overs.
Asked to bat first, Rest of India openers Sagar BR and Krishnpal Mueval went all guns blazing. They added 42 runs in just 3.4 overs before Somjeet dismissed Sagar to put a brake on free flow of runs.
The dismissal brought Sandeep Kundu in the middle who went after the bowlers from the word go. By the time he got run out, he had 103 runs written beside his name from 57 balls, including 17 boundaries and four mammoth sixes. Sandeep brought his century in just 51 deliveries – the first of the ongoing Sardar Patel Unity Cup.
He achieved the feat with a boundary. It was bowled on the leg side and Sandeep managed to flick his wrist to guide the ball past the square-leg fielder to the boundary.
