[WATCH]- Sanju Samson Disagrees With Umpire’s Decision In DC vs RR IPL 2024 Game

During the IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Tuesday, Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson engaged in a dispute with the umpires following a contentious decision that saw him departing the crease.

This incident marked a pivotal moment in the game, with Samson showcasing a remarkable innings to keep RR in contention during the challenging chase. In the match, DC set an imposing target by batting first, scoring 221/8 in 20 overs.

Despite RR losing wickets consistently during their innings, Samson’s stellar performance anchored their chase. Samson’s explosive innings of 86 runs off 46 balls, featuring six sixes and eight fours, propelled his team forward.

However, his attempt to hit a big shot against Mukesh Kumar in the 16th over fell short when Shai Hope, stationed near the boundary, took a catch and asserted its legitimacy.

After reviewing the replays multiple times, the third umpire ruled Samson out. However, both the RR dugout and certain viewers contested the decision, arguing that the replays didn’t provide conclusive evidence to dismiss Samson.

This moment significantly impacted the match, as RR faltered after losing Samson’s wicket and ultimately succumbed to a 20-run defeat.

Sanju Samson approached the on-field umpires to dispute the third umpire’s decision, while simultaneously, DC co-owner Parth Jindal was seen enthusiastically celebrating with animated hand gestures in the stands.

“We had it in our hands”- Sanju Samson following RR’s defeat against DC in the IPL 2024 encounter

Following the match’s conclusion, RR captain Sanju Samson commented on the defeat, stating:

“We had it in our hands. It was 12 runs per over, and on this wicket, it was achievable. (On the decision at the toss) We are doing both things fine and we would like to stick to what the conditions demand. 220 was ten runs extra.”

“If we had conceded two boundaries less, we would have easily gotten the target. The DC openers did what they have been doing throughout. The last couple of overs went for more than what I thought. We have lost three games but all of them have been tight.”

Rajasthan Royals hold the second spot in the points table, accumulating 16 points from 11 matches.
