Team India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson displayed his sharp fielding skills on the opening day of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). Representing the Kochi Blu Tigers, he combined with his brother, Saly Vishwanath, to run out Subin S off the very first ball of the match at Greenfield International Stadium, Trivandrum, on Thursday, August 21.
Batting under his brother’s captaincy, Samson was positioned at mid-off as the match began. Saly Vishwanath bowled the new ball, delivering an outswinger. The batter attempted a drive and went for a quick single, but Samson reacted quickly, moving to his left, collecting the ball, and sending a sharp throw to his brother at the non-striker’s end.
The captain took the catch cleanly and dislodged the bails, leaving the batter well short of his crease. You can watch the video here:

Saly Vishwanath ended his spell with figures of 0-8 from two overs, while Samson added to the team’s effort by taking a catch during the first innings, helping to bowl out the Adani Trivandrum Royals for just 97 runs. Leading from the front in the run chase, Vishwanath scored an unbeaten 50 off 30 balls, steering his team to victory with over eight overs remaining.
However, Sanju Samson did not bat in the chase, as he was scheduled to come in at No. 5 in the batting order.
Sanju Samson Tops The 2025 KCL Auction As Most Expensive Player
Sanju Samson emerged as the star attraction at the 2025 KCL Auction held in July 2025. The Kochi-based franchise secured him for a record INR 26.80 Lakhs, accounting for more than half of their total auction budget of INR 50 Lakhs.
Recently named in India’s squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, the wicket-keeper batter sees the Kerala Cricket League as a perfect opportunity to gain match practice, especially after an injury-hit 2025 IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals (RR).
