How did Sanju Samson perform in Ireland?
Sanju Samson played a crucial role in India’s triumphant ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaign earlier this year. He earned the Player of the Match award in the semi-final and later bagged the Player of the Tournament honour. The Kerala batter also finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the competition, behind Sahibzada Farhan and Tim Seifert.
In Indian Premier League 2026, Sanju Samson began a new chapter with Chennai Super Kings after joining the five-time champions via trade before the season. He ended as the side’s top run-scorer, enjoying a solid campaign that featured two centuries and several match-winning knocks under pressure throughout the tournament.
However, the 31-year-old endured a disappointing T20I series against Ireland, which India lost. He managed just five runs in the first T20I before suffering a golden duck in the second match. India will now hope Samson delivers at the top against England.
A strong start from him could put the Men in Blue in commanding positions early in the contest. With Vaibhav Suryavanshi pushing for an opportunity, Sanju Samson will be eager to bounce back and make up for his underwhelming show against Ireland.
