Sarfaraz Khan took an amazing catch that helped Gurjapneet Singh get a wicket on the very first ball of his IPL career. This moment slowed down Delhi Capitals’ chase and shifted the match in favour of Chennai Super Kings. Sarfaraz’s brilliant effort lit up the MA Chidambaram Stadium during the match on April 11.
Chasing a big target of 213, Delhi started well in the powerplay and looked in control at first. But things changed quickly when Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul got out on back-to-back balls, stopping their momentum and putting them under pressure.
The pressure increased when debutant Gurjapneet Singh struck immediately. Axar Patel made a mistake and was caught by Sarfaraz at the backward point. Sarfaraz reacted very quickly to a hard shot, moved to his right, and dived full length to take a clean catch in the air.
It was a very difficult catch because the ball was hit so fast. After this, Delhi lost three quick wickets and struggled despite their strong start. The chase, which looked easy earlier, suddenly became tough as Chennai took control with tight bowling and great fielding.

Sanju Samson’s Century and Ayush Mhatre’s Fifty Power CSK to Massive 212/2
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings scored a strong 212/2 after being asked to bat first. This was mainly because of a brilliant century by Sanju Samson and a good half-century from Ayush Mhatre. Samson, who didn’t start IPL 2026 very well, came back strongly and scored an unbeaten 115 runs off 56 balls, hitting many fours and sixes.
It was his fourth IPL century, his first for Chennai, and also the first century of this season. He looked confident from the start, timed the ball well, and controlled the innings. He reached his fifty in just 26 balls and his hundred in 52 balls. He also added 113 runs with Mhatre after an early wicket.
Mhatre also played well and calmly, showing good shots. Later, he retired out so that Shivam Dube could come in and score quickly at the end. Chennai, who are still looking for their first win this season, really needed a strong batting performance.
Samson delivered exactly that, making the Chepauk crowd happy. With his wicket, Gurjapneet Singh also joined a special list of players who took a wicket on their very first ball in the IPL.
