Day four of the current first Test between India and New Zealand at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium saw Indian batters Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant lead the Indian comeback with confidence. India, down considerably, looks for a passionate comeback to rekindle dreams of an unlikely win.
Though a near-disastrous mix-up in the 56th over nearly wrecked their momentum, the pair’s tenacious combination demonstrated India’s tenacity. India’s momentum appeared to be at risk when a terrible misunderstanding resulted in a run-out. Thankfully, the harm was limited.
The outcome of this match will mostly depend on Sarfaraz and Pant’s last-minute efforts. Although the hosts have a difficult task ahead of them, there is some hope because of the partnership’s tenacity. Every run matters when the series is at stake, and India’s batting tandem have to maintain their courageous stand if they are to have any hope of pulling off an incredible comeback.

In the second innings for India, Sarfaraz Khan played a late cut-off ball to a deep backward point from New Zealand pacer Matt Henry on the first ball of the 56th over. The opening run was easily scored by the batting pair. Though he had to go back to the striker’s end to avoid a runout, Rishabh Pant considered two runs.
To warn Rishabh, Sarfaraz was shouting, pointing, and even leaping at the non-striker’s end. Pant, though, was too preoccupied with the ball and briefly ran halfway down the field. Fielding at the boundary, Devon Conway misthrew, and Tom Blundell was in the wrong place to break stumps.
Sarfaraz Khan, a right-hander, scored his first century in Test cricket on the current fourth day. In the 57th over, Sarfaraz scored his first century off Tim Southee’s bowl.
