A funny moment took place during the 2025 County Championship match between Somerset and Nottinghamshire at Taunton. As play was underway, a large group of seagulls flew onto the field, causing a brief interruption. The match started on Thursday, June 29.
On Day 1, during the 59th over, several seagulls suddenly swarmed one side of the ground, forcing the umpires to pause the game for a short while. Some birds landed on the field, while many others hovered above, creating an amusing scene for players and fans alike.

Somerset were batting first and had reached 172/4 in 58.4 overs when the seagull interruption took place, causing a brief halt in play. By the end of the day, they had moved to 275/6 after 96 overs. Nottinghamshire will look to wrap up the remaining four wickets quickly when the match continues on Day 2.
Ishan Kishan Set For Final Appearance With Nottinghamshire
Meanwhile, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan will draw considerable attention as he plays his final game for Nottinghamshire. The left-handed batter had signed a short-term deal for two matches, stepping in for Kyle Verreynne. In his first outing for the County side, which was against Yorkshire, Kishan delivered a solid performance with the bat.
He made 87 runs off 98 deliveries in the first innings, striking 12 fours and a six. However, he didn’t get the chance to bat in the second innings as the match ended in a draw. As Nottinghamshire bowl first in Kishan’s final game against Somerset, he’ll look to make a strong impact with the bat later.
On day one, Kishan impressed with the gloves, taking three catches out of six wickets. Although Kishan is currently not a member of India’s Test squad, his noteworthy efforts during this brief County spell could enhance his prospects and keep him in contention for future national selection.
