Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson produced a brilliant work to catch Virat Kohli in their game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium. Incidentally, batting first, Rajasthan had posted 169 runs after yet another batting masterclass from Jos Buttler.
RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat got off to a steady start before Yuzvendra Chahal provided the first breakthrough. He dismissed the Bangalore skipper before Rawat also followed the suit. Struggling at 61/2, RCB were looking to rebuild with Kohli holding fort at one end but a superb work from Sanju Samson ended Virat Kohli’s stay in the middle.
The incident took place in the 9th over of the RCB innings. The went off David Willey’s pads to the leg-side and there wasn’t a run there, But Virat Kohli came halfway down the track. It was an excellent bit of fielding from RR’s wicket-keeper captain Sanju Samson.
He quickly got across to his right and throwing off-balance to ensure that no time is wasted. The throw is also a bullet one and Yuzvendra Chahal took it well and dislodges the bails. Kohli was way down the track and couldn’t get back in time.
A bit lazy there perhaps, and the bat is on the line. A massive breakthrough and Rajasthan Royals have made a comeback. David Willey has a guilty look on his face, but it was Virat Kohli’s fault there.
Watch the clip here:
Yuzvendra Chahal followed it with another wicket as he gatecrashed David Willey’s bat to knock off the timber. Rajasthan Royals are completely on top of the game now.
It will require a lot of work from Sherfane Rutherford and Shahbaz Ahmed to chase down the total.
