Team India registered another convincing series win by beating South Africa in a three-match ODI series. It was a special one as it was the second-string Indian team that played and all members of the T20 World Cup squad are missing as they are in Australia to prepare for the mega event as well.

However, after the Proteas won the opening ODI of the series in Lucknow, the Shikhar Dhawan-led side bounced back well to level the series in Ranchi after Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan helped them to seal the deal with the bat. On Tuesday, October 11, they gave a stunning performance in the series decider and won the series.

After winning the toss and fielding first; India bundled the visitors for just 99 with Mohammed Siraj, Washington, Sundar, and Shahbaz Ahmed all claiming two wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav, who was in sublime form, picked up four wickets.

India chased down the total with ease in 19.1 overs with seven wickets in hand where young and talented Shubman Gill scored a quick knock of 49 as well.

After the game, Shikhar Dhawan gave a surprise to all the cricket fans by posting a celebration video that showed how they celebrated their win. Dhawan and the rest of the Indian team were in a fun mode and performed a dance for the celebration on a song by Daler Mahendi.

Dhawan captioned his post as, “Jeet ke bolo Tara ra ra.”

“@SDhawan25 leading the team not just on the field, but off the field as well. Brilliant camaraderie among the boys, great to watch. Bolo Tara Ra ra,” wrote Laxman on Twitter.

“I am proud of the boys” – Shikhar Dhawan after the series win

Shikhar Dhawan lauded the young cricketers for putting up a brilliant performance against a top South African side. He also asserted that the basic plan was to stick to the process. Speaking at the post-match presentation, Shikhar Dhawan said:

“I am proud of the boys, the way they played in the series. The way they carried the responsibility and showed maturity. Would like to thank the support staff. We showed a lot of character in the first game, we dropped a few catches, but we never really put pressure on ourselves.”

“We tried to stick to the process. I am enjoying the journey, I will try to keep performing well for my team. The boys showed great character on such tough batting pitches. The bowlers were clinical today,” he added.
