With their victory over New Zealand, India secured their third Champions Trophy title—the most by any team—having previously won in 2002 (as joint-winners with Sri Lanka) and in 2013. Dhawan was a member of the triumphant 2013 squad.

As Dhawan highlighted in his caption, the Men in Blue remained undefeated throughout the 2025 edition, winning all five of their matches.

Shikhar Dhawan has been India’s best player in previous Champions Trophy tournaments

Shikhar Dhawan has been one of India’s standout performers in Champions Trophy history. He played crucial roles in India’s triumph in 2013 and their runner-up finish in 2017. In the 2013 edition, Dhawan amassed 363 runs in five matches at an impressive average of 90.75 and a strike rate of 101.39.

His performances included two centuries and a half-century, with a top score of 114. He emerged as the tournament’s highest run-scorer and was honored with the ‘Player of the Series’ award. During the 2017 Champions Trophy, Dhawan once again shone, finishing as both India’s and the tournament’s leading run-scorer.

He accumulated 338 runs in five matches at an average of 67.60, registering one century and two half-centuries. However, India suffered a 180-run defeat to Pakistan in the final. Across his Champions Trophy career, Dhawan scored a total of 701 runs in 10 matches at an outstanding average of 77.88 and a strike rate of 101.59.
