Retired Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan showed a heartwarming gesture toward a fan hit by a ball during the Big Cricket League (BCL) semi-final on Saturday in Surat. A video on Instagram captured Dhawan speaking to the young fan seated in the top tier.
During the match, a young fan was hit on the chest when the ball was sent into the stands. Although it didn’t appear to be a serious injury, Dhawan made sure to check on the spectator. He went into the stands where the fan was located and, just a few steps away, threw a water bottle to him.

Despite failing to score for the Northern Challengers against the Southern Spartans, Dhawan’s team posted a strong total of 218, thanks to contributions from Samiullah Shinwari (95), Upul Tharanga (46), and Gurkeerat Singh Mann (43).
Solomon Mire smashed 14 sixes during his blistering 38-ball 110, leading the Spartans to a six-wicket victory with over three overs remaining. Captain Suresh Raina (25) and Phil Mustard (44) also made vital contributions in the game.
Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from international cricket earlier this year
Shikhar Dhawan retired from international cricket in August, with his last appearance for the national team in 2022. The left-hander was dropped from the squad after a prolonged dip in form.
This is the second cricket tournament Shikhar Dhawan has participated in since announcing his retirement from international cricket in August this year. He recently played four matches for the Karnali Yaks in Nepal’s franchise-based T20 competition, the Nepal Premier League.
Shikhar Dhawan represented India in 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, playing a key role in the team’s 2013 Champions Trophy triumph. He was the tournament’s top scorer, amassing 363 runs in five innings at an impressive average of 90.75.
