[Watch] Shreyanka Patil Uproots Heather Knight’s Off-Stump, Picks Up Maiden International Cricket

Shreyanka Patil made a memorable debut for Team India in the first T20I against England on Wednesday, December 6 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. She was impressive in the game, making an immediate impact for her team. She cleaned up the England skipper Heather Knight with a brilliant delivery.

The incident took place during the eighteenth over of the England innings. Shreyanka Patil bowled a good length delivery on off-stump to Heather Knight. The England batter was looking to work the delivery onto the legside. However, the ball went straight through to uproot the off-stump. Knight had to walk back to the hut disappointed with a score of just 6 runs. This was her maiden wicket in International cricket.

Shreyanka Patil also dismissed Amy Jones on the final delivery of the innings. It wasn’t the best of deliveries as she bowled a full toss on the middle stump. Amy Jones tried to slog but mistimed her shot. Jemimah Rodrigues ran in and completed the catch at deep mid-wicket. Jones played a blinder scoring 23 runs from nine deliveries, including three boundaries and a six.

England finished with 197 runs on the board. Danielle Wyatt played a brilliant knock opening the innings. She slammed 75 runs from 47 deliveries, with eight boundaries and two sixes. Nat Sciver Brunt top-scored with a 53-ball 77, slamming 13 boundaries. Renuka Singh was the pick of the bowlers for India with three wickets.

Shreyanka Patil made a name for herself in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She represented the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the tournament. She took six wickets and had a batting strike rate of 151.22. In a recent interview, Shreyanka expressed that her goal is to win the ICC World Cup for Team India. She added that she also wants to win the Gold Medal for the country at the Olympics.

“My topmost goal is always about winning the World Cup for India — I want to be a part of the winning squad. I am working towards that and when the Olympics happens, the gold medal for sure,” said Shreyanka Patil as quoted by Sport Star.
