Watch – Shreyas Gopal Imitates Jasprit Bumrah’s Bowling Action

Shreyas Gopal imitates actions

The past few years have seen the rise of India’s one of the most talented bowlers Jasprit Bumrah. His bowling action is discrete, just like his skills with the ball. His unique action has been the talk of the town since his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013.

In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, leg-spinner Shreyas Gopal was seen imitating Jasprit Bumrah’s action. He also mimicked veteran spinners Harbhajan Singh’s and Ravichandran Ashwin’s actions. With the sling-arm action, Bumrah can trick any batter in the world.

His manoeuvre has helped him pick up wickets faster. The Gujarat-based bowler has been a very successful pick for both Mumbai Indians and India. Meanwhile, the video went viral as soon as it surfaced on the internet and Shreyas Gopal grabbed the headlines.

In the video, which was shot at Brabourne Stadium, where RR have their camp, Shreyas Gopal successfully imitated Bumrah’s action during one of RR’s sessions. After that, Gopal, who is a leggie, tried to copy off-spinner Ashwin’s action. Then the leg-spinner imitated Harbhajan Singh’s action, and that he did with almost perfection. The Karnataka all-rounder had played alongside Bumrah and Harbhajan between 2014 to 2018 at Mumbai Indians. He went to Rajasthan Royals in 2018.

At the end of the video, Gopal said, “I have shown it to Jasprit (Bumrah), and he said that I imitate him better than he does it himself.”

The 27-year-old is Royals’ regular gig since his inclusion. Shreyas Gopal in 2018, had featured in 11 games. Since 2019, he has played all the league matches for Rajasthan Royals. But in 2021, he has played only a solitary game where he got smashed for 40 runs in three overs.

Having only two points in their hat, RR is at the seventh position on the points table. Rajasthan Royals will face off Royal Challengers Bangalore on 22nd April at Wankhede Stadium. RCB are the only unbeaten side of this IPL.
