On Wednesday, August 30th, talented India batter Shreyas Iyer and his sister Shresta celebrated the Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan in a nice way.
In an Instagram post that Iyer shared, he was captured dancing hip-hop on a chair while Shresta applied vermilion on his forehead. Following the ritual, she tied the rakhi on his left hand and shared sweets with him.
Shresta captioned the post: “Happy Rakshabandhan @shreyasiyer96 ❤️🌹I want to start by saying that you are one of the most important people in my life. I’m so proud to have a brother like you not just for what you’ve accomplished, but for who you are. For me, it is only your happiness and success that matters.”
She further added:
“Thank you for always being there for me ❤️ I couldn’t have asked for a better brother than you! I love you 🌹 🧿 And I miss you 💕”

Because Iyer is presently accompanying Team India in Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup, it can be inferred that the Instagram post was recorded earlier. The siblings frequently exchange touching content on social platforms.
Shreyas Iyer ready to mark his return in the Asia Cup
In his career, Shreyas Iyer is set to rejoin Team India for the Asia Cup following his recuperation from a persistent back injury, which led to his absence from the 2023 Indian Premier League and the recently concluded ODI series in the West Indies. Upon his comeback, Rahul Dravid, the coach of Team India, remarked:
“Shreyas Iyer is fully fit, he has ticked all the boxes – batted and fielded a lot in the camp. The only thing he has missed is the game time. Looked pretty good, and it will be all about giving him more game time, hopefully, it will come in the Asia Cup. In terms of fitness, he has done really well, has batted really well.”
Batting at the fourth position, Iyer has gathered a total of 805 runs in 20 One Day Internationals (ODIs), maintaining an average of 47.35. Within this record, he has achieved two centuries and five half-centuries. His next appearance is scheduled for India’s initial match in the Asia Cup against traditional rivals Pakistan, taking place in Pallekale, Sri Lanka on September 2nd.
