Indian team, won the first match of the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka by 62 runs. Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer were the architects of India’s stunning triumph, as the duo guided the team to a score of 199/2 in 20 overs. Sri Lanka managed to make only 137/6 in response.
Shreyas Iyer today was sent in to bat at the no.3 position. He fully utilised the opportunity scoring 57 runs in just 28 balls with a strike rate in excess of 200. Iyer hit five fours and two big sixes in his innings. One of the maximums was his trademark ‘No-Look’ Shot.
The iconic stroke came in the first ball of 19th over of the Indian innings. The Slower leg-cutter from Chamika Karunaratne was right in Iyer’s slot, and he made no mistake in making the ball travel a distance of 90 metres.

Very much comfortable at 3- Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer previously stated that batting at No. 3 is a very comfortable position for him because he has grown up batting at that number. He also said that batting at No. 3 assists a batter in constructing big innings and, in certain situations, finishing the match for the teams as well.
“Very much comfortable at 3 because I have grown up batting at that number. You can go in early if a wicket falls and become an opener. But if you get set and make a big score, you can finish off in the end.”, Iyer had said ahead of the 1st T20I.
Iyer also discussed the changes in himself since he began playing white-ball cricket for India. The 27-year old remarked that he has gotten much calmer with time.
“When I first came in, I was very flamboyant and impulsive in terms of decision making. But now I have become little calm and composed while building my innings, and grown in temperament. They have been a few aspects which helped me build my innings You can’t think a lot in this format (T20s), you just have a blank slate, walk in and try to smash every ball.”, said Iyer.
