Team India’s batting star Shreyas Iyer reportedly got upset with a security personnel who insisted on taking photos with him. A video circulating on social media shows the right-handed batter expressing his frustration, reminding the staff that their role is to assist him in moving freely.
Iyer hasn’t represented India since the third ODI against Australia last month at Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), where he suffered a rib injury after taking a brilliant catch to dismiss Alex Carey. The Mumbai-born cricketer had to leave the field immediately due to the injury.
Recent updates reveal that Iyer experienced internal bleeding, which was successfully managed through a minor procedure. The 30-year-old’s recovery is progressing well. Below is the video capturing the Indian middle-order batter’s displeasure with the security personnel:

Multiple reports suggest that the in-form right-handed batter may not be fully fit for the ODI series against South Africa, starting November 30.
Punjab Kings Retain Shreyas Iyer In 21-Player Squad Ahead Of IPL 2026 Auction
Meanwhile, the star cricketer is among the 21 players that Punjab Kings (PBKS) have retained ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi. The Punjab-based team, led by the Mumbai-born captain, finished as runners-up in IPL 2025 after a narrow defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Despite the loss, Shreyas Iyer had an outstanding season for Punjab Kings, playing 17 matches and scoring a total of 604 runs at an impressive average of 50.33, with a strike rate of 175.07. He notched up six half-centuries and struck 43 fours and 39 sixes, establishing himself as PBKS’s highest run-scorer for the season.
Notable innings included a spectacular 97 not out off 42 balls against Gujarat Titans in his PBKS debut, featuring nine sixes, and a match-winning 87 not out from 41 balls against Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2, which helped take the team to the final.
Despite his overall brilliance, Iyer struggled in the final against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, scoring just one run, and also had a tough patch against RCB earlier in the season, scoring only 16 runs over four innings.
