Team India has continued the winning momentum from the ODIs to the five-match T20I series against West Indies. They registered a clinical victory in the first T20I on Friday, July 29 at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. There were some brilliant performances from the Indian players in the match, including Shreyas Iyer’s fantastic save near the boundary ropes.

Shreyas Iyer had a forgettable outing for India with the bat in the first innings. He was included in the playing XI ahead of in-form batter Deepak Hooda, Ishan Kishan, and Sanju Samson. However, the right-handed batter could not make the most of the opportunity. He was dismissed for a four-ball duck by Obed McCoy as Akeal Hosein took a great low diving catch.

During the second innings, Shreyas Iyer earned everyone’s praise with his fielding effort. In the fifth over, West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran tried to take on Ravichandran Ashwin. He came down the track and lofted the ball towards deep mid-wicket. Shreyas who was positioned there leaped acrobatically and horizontally to his right. He caught the ball but as he was about to touch the cushion ropes, he threw it back in time.

In reply, India restricted West Indies to 122 runs in their twenty overs to win the match by a huge margin of 68 runs. Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravi Bishnoi took a couple of wickets each in the second innings. Dinesh Karthik won the player of the Match for his batting exploits.
