[WATCH]- Shubman Gill Falls For 50 On Day 2 Of IND vs WI 1st Test

India captain Shubman Gill was dismissed just before Lunch on Day 2 of the first Test against the West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday, October 3. The right-handed batter, who had scored 50 runs off 100 balls with five boundaries, edged a straight shot to the slip fielder.

During his innings, Gill had put together a 98-run stand with KL Rahul. His wicket fell on the final ball of the 57th over of India’s innings. West Indies captain Roston Chase delivered a tossed-up ball on leg stump, and Gill attempted a reverse sweep. The ball struck the bat sticker and flew to slip, where Justin Greaves took a comfortable catch.

Shubman Gill will be frustrated to miss out on another big innings after failing to build on a promising start. The 25-year-old had scored 754 runs in five Tests during the previous England series, including a double century and three centuries, all on foreign soil.

Rahul And Gill Power India To First-Inning Lead vs West Indies

KL Rahul’s century and Shubman Gill’s fifty guided India to a first-innings lead over the West Indies on Day 2 of the opening Test. Earlier, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 36 off 54 balls, including seven fours, putting on a 68-run partnership with Rahul for the first wicket. At Lunch, India were 218/3, with Rahul on 100 off 192 balls and Dhruv Jurel on 14 from 38 deliveries.

West Indies captain Roston Chase was the standout bowler with two wickets. Batting first, the visitors were bowled out for 162 in 44.1 overs. Mohammed Siraj starred with the ball, finishing with 4/40, while Jasprit Bumrah picked up three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav also claimed two wickets. It is worth noting that the West Indies have not defeated India in a Test since 2002.
