Shubman Gill was left stunned after opener KL Rahul was dismissed moments after completing his century on Day 1 of the one-off Test against Afghanistan national cricket team on Saturday, June 6, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium. On the opening delivery of the 61st over, Rahul brought up his 12th Test hundred, and 11th as an opener, with a double.
But on the very next ball, Ziaur Rahman Sharifi delivered a full ball outside off stump. Rahul attempted a drive but failed to time it properly, offering a catch to Rahmanullah Gurbaz, who pulled off a sharp diving effort to his left at short extra cover. Gill reacted in disbelief, placing his right hand on his head after the dismissal. Watch the video here:

KL Rahul scored 100 runs from 165 deliveries, smashing 11 boundaries during his knock. His wicket reduced the hosts to 247/3 in 60.2 overs.
India national cricket team Dominate Despite KL Rahul’s Wicket
After choosing to bat first, India national cricket team got off to a steady start through Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who stitched together a 41-run opening stand from 72 deliveries before Jaiswal was caught down the leg side for 24. Sai Sudharsan then arrived at No. 3 and combined with Rahul to swing the momentum firmly in the hosts’ favour.
The pair put on 139 runs for the second wicket off 184 balls before Sudharsan departed for 81 from 104 deliveries, an innings featuring 13 fours, with Mohammad Saleem Safi claiming his second wicket of the match. Captain Shubman Gill then shared a 67-run stand for the third wicket with Rahul.
Rahul went on to register his 12th Test century but failed to convert it into a bigger score, getting dismissed for exactly 100 off 165 balls. At the time of writing, India were 273/3 after 63 overs, with Gill unbeaten on 59 from 73 balls and Rishabh Pant batting on two off five deliveries.
