Team India vice-captain Shubman Gill showcased his brilliance by pulling off a spectacular one-handed catch during a fielding drill ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 Group A clash against Pakistan, scheduled for Sunday, September 14, in Dubai. While practising catching before the high-stakes encounter, Gill dived to his left and grabbed the ball with remarkable reflexes.

After completing the stunning catch, he remained flat on the ground as teammate Rinku Singh walked over to give him a high-five. Fielding coach T Dilip also rushed in to praise Gill for his outstanding effort.

Shubman Gill made his comeback to the T20I side after last featuring before the 2024 T20 World Cup. He impressed at the top of the order in India’s opening Asia Cup 2025 match against the UAE, where he struck an unbeaten 20 off just nine deliveries while chasing a modest target of 58.

His quick-fire knock featured two fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 187.5. The 26-year-old will now aim to carry that momentum forward and deliver an even stronger performance in the crucial clash against Pakistan on Sunday.

India’s Head-To-Head Record Against Pakistan In Asia Cup T20

The Asia Cup has been contested in the T20 format only twice before the ongoing edition — in 2016 and 2022. India clinched the 2016 title held in Bangladesh, where they faced Pakistan once during the group stage in Mirpur. Pakistan were bowled out for just 83 runs, with Hardik Pandya leading the attack by taking three wickets.

India comfortably chased the target in 15.3 overs, with Virat Kohli contributing a crucial 49 off 51 balls. In the 2022 edition, India and Pakistan met twice. India won the group-stage encounter by five wickets while chasing 148, thanks to a stellar all-round performance from Hardik Pandya, who scored an unbeaten 33 off 17 balls and also claimed three wickets.

However, Pakistan bounced back in their Super Four clash, defeating India by five wickets to level the score in that edition.
