[WATCH] Star India Batter Takes Break From NCA; Spends Time With Friends

Veteran India batter KL Rahul has recovered well and he recently took a day off from his rigorous recuperation routine and engaged in other activities with his friends. However, he was expected to make a comeback in the upcoming India vs Ireland T20I series as he is almost fit to play.

Notably, he spent the last 1.5 months at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, focusing on his recovery as well. It is important for Rahul to have some competitive matches before the Asia Cup 2023, which begins on August 30.

However, with a few days left until the Ireland series, it remains uncertain if Rahul is a completely match-fit. Nonetheless, the selectors and the BCCI Medical staff remain optimistic about his return.

Here is how KL Rahul spent his time:

However, the selection committee is closely monitoring the progress of KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Jasprit Bumrah’s recoveries. The trio will play a pivotal role in the 2023 World Cup and Asia Cup for the Indian cricket team.

To prepare them for the challenging Asia Cup, the selectors are keen on having them participate in some competitive matches. Besides KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer will also take part in a few practice games at the NCA. There’s an ongoing camp for players who are not on the West Indies tour, and some domestic players are also attending the NCA camp.

The players returning from injuries will get the opportunity to compete against them at the NCA. At present, it remains uncertain whether KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer will feature in the IND vs. IRE series. However, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah is fit and ready to play.

The selectors are carefully evaluating the situation and hoping for the best for the players’ timely recoveries.
