Australia’s Test deputy captain, Steve Smith on Thursday has recently faced a horrifying incident. He got stuck in a lift for nearly an hour at the Park Hyatt in Melbourne after the memorable Boxing Day Test.

However, he posted live updates on his official Instagram account from the lift. Meanwhile, Smith’s teammate Marnus Labuschagne did try to open the lift’s door but he failed to do it.

Explaining the situation, Steve Smith said, “I’m on my floor, I’m staying on this level but the doors won’t open. Out of service up there apparently. I’ve tried to get the door open; I’ve got this side open, Marnus (Labuschagne) is on the other side trying to open that to not much avail. Not quite the evening I had planned, let’s be honest.”

Smith again shared, “Left waiting for more official help than Labuschagne could provide. Well, I am just taking a seat. What else do you do when you’re stuck in a lift? I could be here for a while. Anyone got any suggestions for what I can do?”

However, Marnus Labuschagne later managed to open the lift door only a bit to sneak into it and he gave Steve Smith a bag of M&Ms. After some time finally the lift got opened and Steve Smith came out.

Later Steve Smith stated, “Well, I’m just taking a seat. What else do you do when you’re stuck in a lift? I could be here for a while. Anyone got any suggestions for what I can do?”

Notably, Steve Smith will be seen in action next on January 5, in the fourth Ashes Test.
