Conceding 30 plus runs in an over is something which we have seen on some occasions in T20 cricket. But Stuart Broad became first Bowler to concede 35 runs in an over against a batter in Test cricket. He did this in the ongoing Test match between India and England at Edgabston. The batsman was none other than Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah.

Stuart Broad got the responsibility to bowl the 84th over of the game. He decided to use short ball tactics against Jasprit Bumrah. However Bumrah too was ready to face the challenge. Jasprit played hook and pull shots on the short balls of Broad which resulted in back to back boundaries.

Broad also conceded 5 runs due to bowling a wide ball. He later bowled a no ball too which was smashed for a six. Bumrah smashed Stuart Broad for 35 runs (4,4Wd,6Nb,4,4,4,6,1). Stuart Broad looked helpless when Bumrah was looking in his best rhythm with the bat.

All the Indian players in the dressing room cheered for Jasprit Bumrah during this over. This is the most expensive over in the history of Test cricket. This smashing of Broad surely brought back the memories of T20 WC 2007 where Yuvraj Singh smashed Stuart Broad for 36 runs in an over.

India scores 416 runs in first innings

Indian captain Jasprit played an aggressive knock of 31 runs in 16 balls. The Indian team put up a total of 416 runs in first innings Later when Bumrah came to bowl, he also picked up the wicket of England opener Alex Lees. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja scored brilliant centuries to take team India to a dominating position.

This was the second test century of Rishabh Pant in England. Pant was delighted with his brilliant century. Talking about his batting plans, Rishabh Pant said: “I don’t focus on the bowler. I focus on what he is bowling. It is not pre-planned that I have to go after this bowler. If I feel I can hit the ball, I do that.”
