South Africa produced a clinical effort to seat on the driver”s seat at the end of day one”s play in the second Test against England in Cape Town. Meanwhile, veteran fast bowler Stuart Broad found a unique way of getting out after England opted to bat first which has left the fans in splits.

England came into this game 0-1 down and plagued with injuries. They lost Rory Burns on the eve of the match after copping a blow while playing football as a part of the warm-up session. Previously, they also lost Jofra Archer, who is down with flu – a disease which has kept many English players out of action.

What followed on day one after England opted to bat first was evitable with the quality South Africa possess in their bowling unit. The visitors are tattering at 262 for nine with Ollie Pope the only batsman to register a half-century. Meanwhile, it was the dismissal of Stuart Broad, which caught everyone”s attention, and the nature of it surprised one and all.

Broad expected a short delivery and was also hoping to ride the bounce probably, but Rabada outplayed him in the mental battle and fired in a perfect yorker and deceived him. Stuart Broad was late to bring his bat down and to make matters worse his bat got stuck in his back leg and refused to come down. Perhaps, the bat never came down, and the ball castled the timber leaving one surprised including Broad himself.

Meanwhile, with the shoulder”s down, England will need a herculean effort from their bowlers to bowl out South Africa for a cheap score and come out all guns blazing in the second essay as they look to crawl back in the series.
