Supernovas and Trailblazers are facing each other at MCA stadium in Pune in the first match of the Women’s T20 challenge. Several legendary female cricketers are taking part in this tournament. Harmanpreet Kaur is leading the Supernovas team, while Smriti Mandhana is the captain of Trailblazers team

Harmanpreet Kaur played an impactful knock of 37 runs in 29 balls in this match. However, she was dismissed and ran out due to a misunderstanding with Sophie Ecclestone. On the last ball of the 19th over, Ecclestone hit the ball towards long-on. Harmanpreet ran hard for the first run.

She turned back to run the second run too. However, Ecclestone wasn’t interested and she declined for a second run. But it was too late to avoid a run out. It was a terrible mix-up and both of them were present at the same end. The fielder threw the ball towards the keeper end. It was an easy run out for Richa Ghosh at the end. It was a sad end to the innings of Harmanpreet.

At one time, it looked like Supernovas would score a 170+ total. This was for the first time that a 150 plus total was scored in Women’s T20 challenge.

Harleen Deol and Harmanpreet guide Supernovas to 163 runs

After electing to bat first, Supernovas got a great start in the powerplay. Dottin and Priya Punia played with a lot of intent in the powerplay. Later Harleen Deol played a brilliant knock of 35 runs in 19 balls. In the end with good efforts of Harmanpreet, Supernovas put up a total of 163 runs.

Earlier in the game, Supernovas captain Harmanpreet Kaur said at the toss: “First game, so we want to play freely. We have a decent bowling line up later on, so I think they will do the job for us. The prep was great, we spent quality time. It’s now time to deliver.”
