India captain Suryakumar Yadav suffered another forgettable outing, managing only a single-digit score in the fifth and final T20I against South Africa on Friday, December 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. His dismissal came off the opening delivery of the 13th over.
Corbin Bosch pitched the ball on a length outside off, prompting Suryakumar to go for a straight hit down the ground. The shot caught the upper half of the bat and sailed gently to David Miller, who completed a straightforward catch at mid-off. You can watch the video here:

The right-hander was dismissed for five runs off seven deliveries, reducing the hosts to 115/3 in 12.1 overs. The wicket summed up a below-par series for Suryakumar Yadav, who could muster only 34 runs from four innings.
He also wrapped up the 2025 season on a disappointing note, having played 21 matches and scored 218 runs in 19 innings. His returns reflected a modest average of 13.62 and a strike rate of 123.16, with an unbeaten 47 standing as his top score.
India Batters Shine Despite Suryakumar Yadav’s Failure In 5th T20I
Asked to bat first, India’s openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson provided a blistering start, stitching together 63 runs for the opening stand off just 34 deliveries. The visitors struck their first blow in the sixth over when Corbin Bosch removed Abhishek for 34 from 21 balls, an explosive knock featuring six boundaries and a six.
Tilak Varma followed at No. 3 and showed positive intent right away. However, Samson was bowled by a beauty from George Linde after scoring 37 off 22 balls, and captain Suryakumar Yadav endured another failure, departing for just five. Hardik Pandya was sent in at No. 5 and made an instant impact by smashing a six off his first delivery.
He continued to put pressure on the South African attack alongside Tilak, who brought up a rapid half-century from only 29 balls. At the time of writing, India were cruising at 178/3 after 16 overs, with Tilak unbeaten on 59 and Hardik on 38.
