Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav had a challenging T20I series with the bat against England, but his exceptional leadership guided India to a 4-1 series victory. After the series, during the best fielder award ceremony in the dressing room, Yadav played a lighthearted prank.
Fielding coach T Dilip asked Yadav to present the medal without disclosing the winner. Yadav approached spinner Varun Chakravarthy, who had shown notable improvement as a fielder during the series. Before handing out the medal, T Dilip spoke to the Indian team, commending their fielding performance throughout the series. He emphasized how the team tackled various challenges and remarked:
“Phenomenal stuff boys! Well done. When it comes to fielding, I think we, as a team, always strive to be aggressive, and even in this series, we showed that fielding is not just about skill, it’s an attitude thing.”
“When we are on the ground, we are not sure about how many balls going to come your way. We cannot control that but we can definitely control our intent, awareness and readiness, and we showed that in the series.”
