Young Mumbai batter Suryansh Shedge showcased outstanding form in the SMAT 2024-25 quarterfinal against Vidarbha on Wednesday, December 11, at KSCA Cricket Ground, Alur, blasting a series of sixes. Chasing 222, Mumbai got off to a strong start as openers Prithvi Shaw (49 off 26) and Ajinkya Rahane added 83 runs in 43 balls.
Despite quick dismissals of skipper Shreyas Iyer (5) and Suryakumar Yadav (9), Rahane anchored with an impressive 84 off 45 balls, hitting 10 boundaries and three sixes. Needing 60 runs from the last four overs, Shivam Dube and Shedge were at the crease. Shedge took charge in the 17th over, hammering three sixes and a four off Mandar Mahale.
Dube followed suit in the next over, blasting two sixes to shift the momentum in Mumbai’s favour. Shedge, the 21-year-old, then sealed the victory with a six on the second ball of the final over. You can watch the video here:

Shivam Dube remained unbeaten with a composed 37 off 22 deliveries, anchoring the chase effectively in the final overs. Suryansh Shedge, on the other hand, delivered a blistering cameo, smashing 36* off just 12 balls, including one boundary and four towering sixes.
Their efforts guided Mumbai to a thrilling six-wicket victory, with four balls to spare, successfully chasing down the challenging target.
Atharva Taide and Apoorv Wankhade starred with the bat for Vidarbha
Earlier, Vidarbha, asked to bat first, saw openers Atharva Taide and Karun Nair (26) put up 60 runs for the first wicket in 33 balls. Parth Rekhade had a poor outing, falling for just one. Apoorv Wankhade, coming in at No. 4, joined Taide for a vital 81-run partnership off 48 balls for the third wicket.
Wankhade made 51 off 33 balls, while Taide scored 66 off 41 balls. In the final stages, Shubham Dubey played a quick-fire cameo, remaining unbeaten on 43 off 19 balls, including three fours and three sixes. Vidarbha posted 221/6 in 20 overs.
