Injured Team India all-rounder Washington Sundar has shared an encouraging update from his rehabilitation as he works toward full fitness ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026. Sundar experienced discomfort in his left lower rib while bowling in the opening ODI against New Zealand.
As a result, he was sidelined for the rest of the ODI series as well as the subsequent T20Is against the same opposition. The India star is currently undergoing rehab at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. In a positive development for the Men in Blue, Sundar has resumed batting in the nets as part of his recovery process.
He also uploaded a video offering a glimpse into his rehab routine. The clip shows Sundar training in the gym and running on the field, indicating steady progress and raising optimism about his return in time for the T20 World Cup 2026.
“Cominggg sir…,” he captioned the post.

“Yes, Washington has resumed batting, but at a very low intensity. He batted for a bit and that is very encouraging. The little bit of discomfort around ribs will be there initially because he hasn’t done anything for some time now. He should be okay as he now will gradually move ahead in his path to total recovery,” a source was quoted as saying by IANS.
