Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a hundred

Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal recently took part in an entertaining challenge alongside former England great Kevin Pietersen and passed it with ease. The southpaw brought up 100 runs by smashing a six, facing a bowling machine that increased its pace by 1 mph (1.6 kmph) after every delivery, while nine fielders were placed on the field.

Jaiswal was in sublime touch throughout the challenge, unfurling classy strokes to all areas of the ground. The 24-year-old launched a 156 kmph delivery over the ropes to reach the milestone and, notably, achieved the target in just 47 balls, three deliveries quicker than required.

In a video shared by Pietersen on YouTube on Monday (January 19), the former England captain could be heard saying:

“Are you making fun of us? Really, this guy is magnificent.”

On the international front, Yashasvi Jaiswal was named in India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, but he did not get an opportunity to feature as the Men in Blue suffered a 2–1series defeat. His most recent ODI appearance for India came during the three-match series against South Africa in December last year.

In that series, the young opener delivered an impressive performance, registering his maiden ODI century with a knock of 101 runs in the third match. His innings proved instrumental in helping India secure a 2–1 series victory.

Kevin Pietersen Lauds Yashasvi Jaiswal’s All-Conditions Ability

In a past social media post, Kevin Pietersen asserted that Yashasvi Jaiswal possesses the ability to score centuries in any conditions. The 45-year-old shared the remark on X during the India–England Test series in 2024, writing:

“And watching Jaiswal very closely over the last couple weeks, he CAN get 100s everywhere, and I think he will be a GREAT of the game one day!”

Jaiswal dominated the series with 712 runs, including two double hundreds, as India won 4–1. He later hit 161 in Perthagainst Australia and scored 411 runs with two centuries in the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Overall, he has 2,511 Test runs at 49.23, and may next feature for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
