On Sunday (January 21), the England team arrived in Hyderabad and completed their check-in at the hotel rooms in anticipation of the first Test against India. The upcoming five-match series is scheduled to kick off on January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

However, the English team has faced a significant setback, with key middle-order batsman Harry Brook returning home due to personal reasons, resulting in his absence from the series. In response, they have selected Dan Lawrence as his replacement in the squad.

Meanwhile, PTI released a video on X, offering a preview of the English team players arriving at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad for the Test series. The video features appearances by Brendon McCullum, Joe Root, and other team members.

“I feel England will be very confident with the strategy they have adopted”- Pragyan Ojha before the Test series in India

Ex-Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha recently suggested that England might feel assured in applying their aggressive gameplay in the upcoming Test series in India. He further recommended having a backup strategy as the pitches won’t be as flat and batting-friendly as they encountered in Pakistan last year. In a conversation on Jio Cinema, Ojha mentioned:

“I feel England will be very confident with the strategy they have adopted. But they need a back-up plan because the conditions won’t be like what they were in Pakistan. The wickets were slightly better and favored the batsmen. Here, the conditions will favor the spinners. So how they tackle this will be very important.”

He added: “Bazball involves playing fearless cricket and England tries to gain a psychological edge using this strategy. Executing Bazball will be difficult in India because it won’t be easy to play the Indian spinners or for that matter Jasprit Bumrah and the other pace bowlers.”

England faced defeats with scores of 4-0 and 3-1 in their previous two tours of India in 2016 and 2021, respectively.
