Tilak Varma played a key role in the Mumbai Indian’s win over the Punjab Kings. He played a quickfire cameo remaining not out on 34 off 18 deliveries with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes that helped MI post 192 for 7. He also took an important catch of Shashank Singh that put the pressure back on the PBKS batting lineup.
PBKS captain Sam Curran won the toss and decided to field first. Ishan Kishan fell cheaply caught by Brar. Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma steadied the ship for MI putting on an excellent display of batting.
SKY looked in good shape with a well-made 78 that laid a strong foundation for MI to post a decent total. Tilak Varma played a vital role in remaining not out on 34. Hardik Pandya, Tim David, and Romario failed to score runs in the death overs. At the end of 20 overs, MI made 192 for 7.
Jasprit Bumrah showed his class
Jasprit Bumrah proved his worth with another match-winning spell picking 3 for 21 that dented PBKS batting. Bumrah produced a superb yorker to dismiss Rilee Rossouw and then got rid of Sam Curran with a review. MI got lucky as Sam Curran was dismissed via review for caught behind putting PKBS under immense pressure.
Bumrah was bought into the attack and dismissed the dangerous Shashank Singh with a slower one which resulted in a wicket. Ashutosh Sharma showed his class with an array of strokes to take the game away from MI. Coetzee struck to dismiss Sharma which shifted the momentum in favour of MI. The match went right down the wire as Rabada was run out with a superb throw by Nabi.
Bumrah and Coetzee took 3 wickets each playing a key role in helping MI register a win. Both bowlers reduced PBKS to 14 for 4 before Ashutosh Sharma and Shashank Singh stitched another brilliant partnership.
