The Hyderabad-born cricketer became the second Indian batter and fifth overall to score consecutive T20I centuries. After reaching his first T20I century off 51 balls, he took just 42 deliveries to bring up his second.

Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson formed an unbeaten 210-run partnership

After Suryakumar Yadav won the toss for the first time in the series and opted to field, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma began in explosive fashion. The duo put on a 73-run opening partnership before Abhishek was dismissed for 36 off 18 balls.

Despite the loss of his partner, Tilak and Samson kept up the attack, taking on all of South Africa’s bowlers, with Lutho Sipamla being the only one to claim a wicket.

Samson, who scored a century in the opening T20I in Durban, smashed the third ton of his career in just 51 balls. The 210-run partnership also became the highest ever for India in T20Is.

In the previous game at Supersport Park, Centurion, India posted 219/6. Although it seemed like the match was beyond South Africa’s reach, Marco Jansen’s explosive half-century gave them a slim chance. However, his efforts weren’t enough, and the Proteas eventually lost by 11 runs.
