Australia have come back right in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Test thanks to Pat Cummins who removed two overnight batsmen in quick succession. Meanwhile, the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara will have Aussie skipper Tim Paine’s name all over it, who made a superlative jumping effort to grab a perfect catch.
Reeling at 36 for one at the end of day 1, India came out with a purpose with Shubman Gill looking to score runs at every opportunity. Luck also favoured them a bit with a dropped catch and close call going their favour. Australia’s bowlers were superb, even though a tad shorter in their lengths than they would have liked.
Just when it seemed like the initial spells were seen off, Cummins has struck twice, removing the two set batsmen and India have to begin all over again. Debutant Shubman Gill, who looked to score runs at every opportunity played a rash shot outside off-stump only to nick to Tim Paine before he grabbed a stunner t dismiss Cheteshwar Pujara and put his side right back in the scheme of things.
Tim Paine grabs a stunner to dismiss Pujara
Pujara got stuck on the crease to in-angler from Pat Cummins that just straightened a bit to find the edge. The ball was travelling and both first slip, as well as the keeper, went for it. Fortunately for Australia, Tim Paine’s one-handed dive to the right is bang on. The Aussie skipper spent a lot of time ahead of the day’s play in his catching and Paine seemed extremely happy that it paid off.
Meanwhile, it was almost a replica of Cheteshwar Pujara’s dismissal from the second innings of the Adelaide Test. Australia knew that they have got their main man and was seen celebrating the wicket.
