India’s teenage batting prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi pulled out a unique sword celebration after bringing up his fifty in the third Youth ODI against South Africa Under-19 at Willowmoore Park, Benoni, on Wednesday, January 7. The left-hander celebrated in Pushpa movie style, reaching his half-century from just 24 balls.
Suryavanshi continued the momentum from his explosive 68 off 24 balls in the first YODI against South Africa U19 at the same venue. The Bihar-born batter raced to his fifty inside the eighth over, laying the foundation for a daunting total for the visitors. The 14-year-old went on to score a century in only 63 deliveries before eventually falling to Ntando Soni for a blistering 127 off 74 balls.
His dismissal ended a mammoth 227-run opening stand with Aaron George. You can watch the celebration video here:

Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits historic 190 in Vijay Hazare Trophy
Meanwhile, the young cricketer registered several record-breaking feats during his innings against Arunachal Pradesh in the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. At 14 years of age, he became the youngest player to score a century in the 50-over tournament.
By reaching 150 runs from just 54 deliveries, Suryavanshi, who has been selected in India’s squad for the forthcoming Under-19 50-over World Cup, also eclipsed the long-standing record held by South African great AB de Villiers, thereby becoming the fastest to the milestone in List A cricket. De Villiers had previously achieved the mark in 64 balls in ODI cricket.
Furthermore, his century, scored off only 36 balls, established him as the second-fastest Indian to reach the landmark in List A cricket. His commanding knock of 190 runs from 84 deliveries propelled Bihar to an imposing total of 574 in 50 overs, culminating in a comprehensive 397-run victory.
