Rohit Sharma and the Indian team are enjoying a 10-day break between the second and third Tests in the ongoing five-match series against England at home.

Following an unexpected 28-run loss in the first Test in Hyderabad, Team India staged a comeback, securing a 106-run victory in the Visakhapatnam match to even the series at 1-1.

India has also revealed their squad for the last three Tests, with notable developments including the omission of Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. However, the team has received a boost with the return of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, pending fitness assessments.

Rohit Sharma has faced challenges in finding form in recent Test matches

Rohit Sharma has experienced a concerning decline in his Test batting performance since the West Indies tour last year. The 36-year-old has not surpassed the fifty-run mark in his last eight Test innings, spanning the South African tour and the current series against England. Despite this, the Asian side achieved a 1-1 draw against South Africa.

The decline in form is particularly surprising given Rohit Sharma’s outstanding performance in the ODI World Cup last year, where he finished as the second-highest run-scorer with 597 runs in 11 games. His aggressive batting played a crucial role in India’s unbeaten run until the final defeat to Australia.

In the two Tests against England so far, Rohit has only managed to score 90 runs, recording a highest score of 39 and a modest average of 22.50. Despite this recent struggle, the seasoned batsman maintains an impressive average of 61.52 in 26 home Tests.

With the series balanced on a delicate edge, Team India is counting on its captain to overcome his current form slump in the upcoming third Test in Rajkot, starting on Thursday, February 15.
