Veteran batter Virat Kohli is gearing up for the Asia Cup 2022 tournament, which begins on Saturday, August 27 in the United Arab Emirates. Team India will play against Pakistan in their opening match on Sunday, August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Ahead of the high-octane match, Virat Kohli hit the nets on Friday along with the Indian team.

The right-handed batter has been going through a prolonged rough patch in his career. He failed to make much of an impact in the Indian Premier League as well as against England. Virat Kohli was rested by the selectors for the West Indies and Zimbabwe tours. He will be making a comeback to the Indian team post a brief break for the Asia Cup 2022.

On Friday, Virat Kohli looked to fine-tune his batting skills ahead of the mega-clash against Pakistan. He also took on the Indian spinners in the nets. The 33-year-old attempted an unorthodox shot during his net session against leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. He let off a massive chuckle after the shot, while Chahal also joined him with a laugh.

I was trying to fake my intensity: Virat Kohli opens up on recent struggles

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has not been in the best of forms for the last couple of years in International cricket. His form has come under scrutiny, especially with the T20 World Cup 2022 around the corner. To take his mind off the game, the former Indian skipper took a brief break from cricket. Speaking about the break and his recent struggles, Virat Kohli said, to Star Sports,

“For the first time in 10 years, I did not touch the bat for one month. I came to the realization that I was kind of trying to fake my intensity a bit recently, you know you can do that, you are competitive and you are saying I have the intensity but your body is telling you to stop and it is telling you to take a break and step back.”

“I am looked at as a guy who is very mentally strong and I am. Everyone has a limit and you need to recognize that limit otherwise things can get unhealthy for you,” he added.
