Veteran Indian cricketer Virat Kohli signed a ball for Railways bowler Himanshu Sangwan, who dismissed him during their 2024-25 Ranji Trophy match, which concluded on Saturday, February 1, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Railways, invited to bat first, managed to post 241 after a shaky start, losing half their side for just 66 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Upendra Yadav was the standout performer, scoring 95 off 177 balls. Delhi, in reply, saw captain Ayush Badoni (99) and Sumit Mathur (86) guide them to 374 in their first innings.
Kohli, making his return to the prestigious tournament after 12 years, struggled and was dismissed for just six runs off 15 balls by Sangwan, who claimed four wickets in the innings.
Delhi’s bowlers delivered a remarkable performance in the second innings, with Shivam Sharma spearheading the attack and claiming five wickets as Railways were bowled out for just 114. Delhi won comfortably by an innings and 19 runs.
Following the match, Railways bowler Himanshu, who had dismissed Indian cricket icon Kohli, met him in the dressing room, where the 36-year-old Kohli signed a ball for him. You can watch the video here:

Both teams, however, fell short of qualifying for the knockout stage. Delhi placed fourth with 21 points from seven matches in Group D, while Railways finished sixth with 17 points from the same number of games.

Although Railways were defeated by Delhi, losing by an innings and 19 runs, Himanshu Sangwan garnered all the attention for dismissing Virat Kohli. The 29-year-old expressed his pride in taking the key wicket, saying: [via ANI]
“People across India draw inspiration from Virat. Picking his wicket was a special moment for me. It was a dream come true.”
The right-arm pacer has featured in 24 first-class matches, claiming 81 wickets, with three of those being five-wicket hauls.
