Virat Kohli was Pat Cummins’ 150 Test wicket and the fifth wicket to fall for India on the third day of the Pink-Ball Test. India started the day on 9 for 1 and with Kohli’s dismissal went down to 19 for 6 in a jiffy. Australia with Kohli’s wicket has made a huge inroad to the Indian batting line-up and are looking to win the game today itself.

Kohli’s wicket fell in the seventh over of the morning with Pat Cummins bowling the sixth stump line and asking Kohli to fend at the delivery. The Indian skipper obliged and was caught by Cameron Green at slips. This was the fourth time Cummins accounted for Kohli in test matches.

This is how Virat Kohli was dismissed:

Virat Kohli was given out by the onfield umpire and the decision was upheld by the third-umpire after watching the replay on TV. From 9 for 1 India lost five wickets for just 10 runs with Kohli getting out.

India have now lost its middle order including Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli inside the first hour.

Australian bowler Pat Cummins took three wickets on Day 3 while Josh Hazlewood accounted for Rahane’s wicket. After Kohli’s dismissal, India lost the wickets of Ravichandran Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha to slide further.

This was by far’s India worst slide while batting in their recent history in test cricket. The weakness of the technique of the Indian batsmen were exposed bitterly by the Australian bowlers. The Australian bowlers on the other hand were on the money right from the first ball on day 3.

They kept probing the Indian batsman outside the off stump and they succumbed to the pressure of scoring runs. From 7 for 1 at stumps on Day 2, India were brought down to 19 for 6 inside the first half-hour of day 3 and were 31-9 after the fall of Hanuma Vihari for 8.
