Indian captain Virat Kohli also suffers a major blow as he got out early during the first Test against Australia in the current Border Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli was dismissed for 5 in the 17th over of India’s first innings during the Perth Test at Optus Stadium on Friday. He got to the middle as a batsman in the 11th over last when Josh Hazlewood dismissed Devdutt Padikkal and took eight balls to score his first run.

Kohli, who had a brief stay on the crease, came down the pitch to strike a triple through the check drive. However, his innings came to an early end when he was dismissed by Hazlewood when the delivery threw up a dangerous lump in the pitch. More over, to Kohli’s surprise, the ball offered a good bounce and he edged it to Usman Khawaja at the first slip.

The dismissal further put off a poor run in Test cricket for Kohli. The legendary Indian batsman has been really out of sorts in this format of the game, specifically the Test cricket. As India would want to get off to a good start in the series, the early loss of their captain will put more pressure on the other batsmen.

Continuing with his poor form, Virat Kohli was dismissed for a meager 5 off 12 balls in the first innings of the Test match against Australia at Perth. His wicket fell to India at a struggling total of 32/3 and this team was waiting for him to come good and play a big innings.

Kohli’s weakness in Test cricket has persisted since the start of the previous year. He has scored only two hundred and has been going around below that average. This year, he has appeared in somewhat disoriented form as a batsman; he has not been able to make his regular scores. Since his last coming out to bat in the last 11 innings, he averages only 19.7, which translates to 197 runs.

Kohli would want to make a good show of himself in the second inning to ensure that his team won the match. He would also be looking to shut his critics on social media with a good performance with the bat.
