Even though Virat Kohli returned to domestic one-day cricket with high expectations, he stayed calm after scoring a century for Delhi against Andhra Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Bengaluru on Wednesday, December 24. A video shared on X by ESPNCricinfo journalist Shashank Kishore showed the 37-year-old quietly acknowledging the milestone after reaching 100 with a boundary.
The former India skipper was featuring in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time since the 2009–10 season. Prior to the Andhra Pradesh game, Kohli had accumulated 819 runs in 14 matches in the competition, averaging an impressive 68.25 at a strike rate of 106.28, including four hundreds and three fifties.
His knock at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) marked his fifth century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and his 58th hundred in List A cricket.

In doing so, the Delhi-born batter became the quickest to reach 16,000 runs in List A cricket, achieving the feat in just 330 innings. In comparison, Sachin Tendulkar took 391 innings. Notably, Kohli and Tendulkar are the only Indians to feature among the top five fastest players to reach the milestone in the List A format.
Kohli’s 131 Guides Delhi To Comfortable Win
The former India captain led Delhi’s chase of 299 against Andhra Pradesh, finishing with a commanding 131 off 101 balls, including 14 boundaries and three sixes. He put on a rapid 113-run partnership with Priyansh Arya, who scored 74 from just 44 deliveries, while Nitish Rana contributed a quick 77.
Despite losing captain Rishabh Pant (5) and Ayush Badoni (1) cheaply, Delhi reached the target in 37.4 overs with four wickets remaining. Earlier, Ricky Bhui had played a brilliant innings of 122 off 105 balls to propel Andhra to 298/8 in 50 overs, but his effort proved insufficient.
