The second T20 between India and Australia finally resumed after a brief delay due to a wet outfield. The game was reduced to eight overs per side. India won the toss and chose to field first.

Rohit Sharma interestingly handed the first over to Hardik Pandya. The Australian openers looked to attack early. Hardik went for 10 runs in the first over. With the margin for error diminishing with each passing ball, former Indian captain Virat Kohli committed a blunder on the field in the very first delivery of the second ball.

Axar was handed the ball for the second over. Cameron Green attempted a lofted shot and intended to clear mid-off all the way for a six. However, he mistimed it and Virat Kohli rushed in from long on to take the catch. He managed to get his hands on it but failed to hold on to it and dropped it. And what hurt India more was that the ball went over the ropes for a four.

Moments later, Kohli redeemed himself with a brilliant runout. Green tried to clear mid-on but mistimed it again and rushed for a quick single. Virat Kohli was moved to short mid-on. The ball went straight into his hands and he fired a rocket throw towards Axar Patel, who was guarding the stumps at the non-striker’s end.

Axar flicked the bails and the Indian boys started celebrating even before the decision was made. Green was confident that he made it. However, replays showed that Cameron Green was just short of the crease and was declared out. Virat Kohli redeemed himself after the dropped catch and it did not cost India much.

Here’s the video of Kohli’s sensational runout:

Australia post 90 runs in their eight overs

Australia came out swinging after being put in to bat, and it was only Aaron Finch and Matthew Wade who succeeded. Their quickfire cameos did a bit of damage after Axar Patel’s brilliance at the start.

Wade played another cameo, hitting an unbeaten 43 off 20 deliveries to post a staggering total on the board. Harshal Patel was once again costly, conceding 32 runs in his two overs.
