Meanwhile, Virat Kohli began his IPL 2026 campaign in style, scoring an unbeaten 69 off 38 deliveries against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His knock played a crucial role as Royal Challengers Bengaluru comfortably chased down a target of 202 in just 15.4 overs.

While RCB have made a strong start to their season with a convincing victory, Chennai Super Kings are still searching for their first points. The five-time champions have endured consecutive losses against Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings.

Virat Kohli has been among the most reliable performers in IPL history. He remains the tournament’s highest run-scorer, amassing 8,730 runs in 260 innings at a strike rate of 133.14, including eight centuries and 64 half-centuries.

The former Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain also boasts an impressive record against Chennai Super Kings, having scored 1,146 runs in 35 matches at a strike rate of 127.25 against the Men in Yellow. Notably, RCB dominated CSK in IPL 2025, winning both encounters.

In the league stage at MA Chidambaram Stadium, they secured a comprehensive 50-run victory. Kohli contributed 31 off 30 balls, while skipper Rajat Patidar led the charge with a fine 51 off 32, guiding the team to 196/7 in 20 overs. In reply, CSK were restricted to 146/8, with Josh Hazlewood starring with the ball, returning figures of 4-0-21-3.

RCB also came out on top in the reverse fixture in a closely fought contest. Defending a total of 214, the Bengaluru-based side clinched a narrow two-run win. Kohli played a key role once again, scoring a fluent 62 off 33 deliveries.
