Ravindra Jadeja joins an elite list of Indian players with his century against England

Ravindra Jadeja achieved several records with his century against England in the fifth Test. His ton was only the fourth instance of any Indian number 7 or lower-order batter scoring two centuries in a calendar year. Kapil Dev (1986), MS Dhoni (2009), and Harbhajan Singh (2010) are the only Indian players who have achieved it earlier.

Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s century was the third instance of two-left-handed Indian batters scoring a century in the same innings. The first instance was Sadagopan Ramesh (110)-Sourav Ganguly (125) against New Zealand in Ahmedabad (1999). In 2007, Ganguly (239)-Yuvraj Singh (169) against Pakistan in Bengaluru also achieved the feat.
