Virat Kohli made a stunning return to form against Kolkata Knight Riders, proving once again why he is regarded as one of the best chasers in world cricket. After registering consecutive ducks in his previous matches, the star batter bounced back with a superb century to lead Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a crucial victory in a challenging chase.

Kohli looked confident from the very beginning, striking the ball cleanly and handling the pressure effortlessly. Even while staying focused on the target, the former RCB skipper appeared relaxed at the crease and enjoyed his time in the middle as he slowly took the game away from KKR with another trademark innings.

The right-hander looked highly motivated after walking out to bat and even celebrated his first run passionately following the disappointment of back-to-back ducks. Once settled, Kohli batted with complete freedom and composure during the chase.

He also shared a fun moment with former teammate Manish Pandey, with whom he has played from Under-19 cricket to the senior Indian team. A clip from the match later went viral on social media, as the stump mic captured Kohli joking about trying a scoop shot.

“Mai maarunga yeh, Ab India ke liye thodi he khelna hai, ab toh harr shot lagega,” Kohli was heard telling Pandey during the innings.

Virat Kohli Continues His Brilliant Run In IPL 2026

Virat Kohli may have stepped away from T20Is after India’s 2024 World Cup victory, but his impact in the format continues to shine. The batting superstar has remained a driving force in the IPL and finally achieved the dream of winning his maiden title with Royal Challengers Bengaluru last season.

He has once again played a key role in RCB’s strong IPL 2026 campaign, with the team spending most of the season at the top of the points table. Kohli has continued to lead from the front and remains the side’s highest run-getter, showcasing his remarkable consistency even after retiring from international T20 cricket.

Against Kolkata Knight Riders, Kohli produced another masterclass, remaining unbeaten on 105 from 60 balls with the help of 11 boundaries and three sixes. His knock guided RCB to a successful chase of 193, as they reached 194/4 in 19.1 overs after KKR had earlier posted 192/4.

The innings also marked Kohli’s ninth IPL century and his first ton since the 2023 season. During the knock, he surpassed MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma to become the player with the most appearances in IPL history, playing his 279th match. He also became the first Indian batter to complete 14,000 runs in T20 cricket.
