Watch – Wriddhiman Saha Pulls Off A Run Out In Extraordinary Fashion

Despite a glaring defeat, Team India will have a couple of positives to take from the pink-ball contest at the Adelaide Oval. After a good show from the bowlers in the first essay, Wriddhiman Saha pulled off an extraordinary run out to dismiss Matthew Wade in the second innings of the Test match.

Joe Burns and Matthew Wade got Australia off to a steady start in pursuit of 90 runs after Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins ran a bulldozer on India’s batting in the morning session of day 3. Wade freed his arms finding the gaps to close in on the winning runs. With 20 runs needed, a freakish dismissal thanks to Wriddhiman Saha helped India get their first breakthrough.

Wriddhiman Saha pulls off a stunning run-out

Matthew Wade ran down the pitch and by the time he tried to get under the flight, it was dipping on him. To make matters worse, it was fired at the toes of the batsman by Ravichandran Ashwin. Wade somehow managed to get some bat on the flick and it deflects off the inside half straight to Prithvi Shaw at the forward short-leg.

The ball hits Shaw’s right boot and dribbles to Wriddhiman Saha who lobs it onto the stumps without looking at the wicket to catch Mathew Wade well short of his crease. Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting was in awe of Saha’s effort and even compared it to that MS Dhoni’s famous run-out style.

“That’s a Dhoni-like piece of keeping,” says Ricky Ponting of Wriddhiman Saha’s efforts to run out Wade.

However, this dismissal didn’t make much of a difference as Australia walked home convincingly. In the process, although they lost Marnus Labuschagne but Joe Burns returned to form with a fifty guiding the host with a six.

The Aussies now lead the four-match Border-Gavaskar Test series 1-0.
