India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal smashed his maiden Test century in Australia with a bold six off Josh Hazlewood. Batting in the 62nd over on Day 3 of the Perth Test (Sunday, November 24), Jaiswal reached the milestone in style.
Resuming his innings at 90* off 193 balls, Jaiswal quickly achieved his hundred in 205 balls. His innings included 8 boundaries and 3 sixes at the time of reaching the landmark.
The sixes came late on Day 2, as Jaiswal began to fully unleash his shot-making ability, confidently attacking Australia’s bowlers Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon. In one of the final overs of the day, he hit Lyon for an impressive 100m six, showcasing his growing confidence and ability to take on the opposition.

Jaiswal and KL Rahul shared a 201-run opening stand in India’s second innings, lasting 63 overs. This marked the first-ever 200+ partnership by Indian openers in Test cricket.
Rahul-Jaiswal Duo Frustrates Australia
After 17 wickets fell on Day 1, few expected India to navigate two full sessions without losing a wicket. However, Rahul (62*) and Jaiswal (90*) batted brilliantly, taking India to 172/0 at stumps on Day 2, with an overall lead of 218 runs.
The conditions seemed to have eased, and Australia’s bowlers looked worn out after being thrust back into action shortly after bundling India out for 150. Marnus Labuschagne’s medium-pace bouncers late in the day reflected Australia’s growing frustration.
The Indian duo batted with confidence, taking calculated risks against Pat Cummins and rotating the strike effectively to keep the scoreboard moving. Despite their efforts, Australia failed to secure a breakthrough, even with Labuschagne’s experimental over before the break.
Batting wasn’t simple, but Yashasvi Jaiswal showed notable improvement. Learning from his first-innings errors, he avoided overhitting and played with greater composure.
