[WATCH] Yashasvi Jaiswal Gets Out By T Natarajan After A Failed Scoop Shot Attempt

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batsman for Rajasthan Royals (RR), was dismissed when his scoop shot attempt failed during the IPL 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday, May 2. The game took place at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

After Rajasthan Royals (RR) lost two wickets in the opening over of their chase, Jaiswal played an impressive half-century innings and formed a crucial partnership with Riyan Parag. In an attempt to maintain momentum during the 14th over, Jaiswal attempted a scoop shot against SRH’s Natarajan.

However, he failed to execute it effectively, resulting in his dismissal as the ball hit the stumps. Jaiswal returned to the pavilion after scoring 67 runs off 40 balls, including two sixes and seven fours.

SRH skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat. They posted a competitive score of 201/3, thanks to significant innings from Nitish Reddy (76*), Travis Head (58), and Heinrich Klaasen (42*).

RR had a rough beginning to their chase, with Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissing two batsmen for just 1/2 in the opening over. However, a resilient partnership of 134 runs between Yashasvi Jaiswal (67) and Riyan Parag (77) revived RR’s innings and put them in a commanding position.

Despite their efforts, both batsmen fell quickly, leaving the task unfinished. Pat Cummins and his team bowled superbly in the final overs, securing a narrow one-run victory for the hosts.

RR captain Sanju Samson commented on the defeat following the match, stating:

“We played a few close games this season. Margin for error is very less in IPL but we have to give credit to SRH and the way they kept fighting until the end. Knowing the nature of the IPL, we don’t win until we finish it and they have the bowling quality to make things toughs.”

Samson added: “It was tough to hit with the new ball but when the ball gets old, they capitalized very well. Myself and Jos got out in the powerplay but Jaiswal and Parag played responsibly and took the game deep. You have to give credit to them for playing the way we did.”
