Owner of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise Kavya Maran visited the Orange Army’s dressing room to give them a pep talk following their devastating loss in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 final, which helped to lift morale at the camp.

The brutal Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team outplayed Pat Cummins and company in Sunday’s IPL 2024 final at the renowned MA Chidambaram Stadium.

In terms of points, Sunrisers Hyderabad finished the league stage in second place. In the first qualifying round, they suffered a depressing defeat to the Kolkata Knight Riders. However, they then pulled off a stunning comeback, defeating the Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifying round and going on to the competition final in Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

It was anticipated that Sunrisers Hyderabad would exact their revenge on the Kolkata Knight Riders while putting up a fierce fight. However, it was not to be as they were crushed in the top match, losing by an overwhelming 8 wickets on Sunday, May 26, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

“Everyone is talking about us”- Kavya Maran

Players from Sunrisers Hyderabad appeared utterly devastated following the defeat. Nevertheless, Kavya Maran, the franchise’s co-owner, visited the changing room and cheered up the players despite being inconsolable. Her remarks were in praise of the cricket players’ outstanding performance this season, saying:

“You all have made us so proud. I had to come here and tell you that. I mean you have redefined the way we play T20 cricket and everyone is talking about us. The off-day had to happen today, but a great job, all of you with the bat and ball. Thank you so much,” Kavya said.

“And I think even though we finished last place last year, I think all the fans came out in huge numbers because of the potential you guys had. Everyone’s talking about us and even though KKR won, I am sure everyone’s still going to be talking about the style of cricket we have played” Kavya Maran said.

“Thank you guys, Take care, and don’t look like this. We played the final, it wasn’t just any other game. I mean, all the other teams have been watching us tonight. Thank you guys, I will see you soon,” Kavya added.

As KKR bowlers held SRH to 113 runs, they were bowled out for the lowest-ever IPL final total. In just 11 overs, the KKR batting team chased down the 114 runs needed to win the IPL championship.
